This 1968-73 Pontiac GTO/1973 Grand Prix 3-Speed Automatic Console Shift Indicator Backing Plate is the physical plate used beneath the shift-indicator lens. It supports the 3-speed automatic indicator assembly in the original console location. The related 1968 Dual-Gate application uses a different backing plate, so the two configurations should not be interchanged.
