Original Style Molded Carpet Why compromise? OPGI stocks the highest quality carpet in the restoration industry! In 2005, “Raylon” was developed as a replacement for the traditional 80/20 loop carpets used in all GM cars of the 1960s and early 1970s. Dorsett Industries, founded in 1961, is the oldest carpet manufacturer still in existence, who originally produced the factory OE 80/20 rayon and nylon blend loop carpet from 1961 through the muscle car boom years. Coupled with OPGI’s premier and preferred supplier, Auto Custom Carpets, each set is heat-pressed and precisely molded into an original, high-quality floor pan die—to ensure a perfect fit, then of course machine bonded (not glued!) with the most precisely reproduced plastic heel-pad in the industry (size, color key and durability) for a superior fit and finish. The best! Shipped complete and ready to install with the original style 1/2" thick jute bonded to the underside for your convenience. Premium Essex Carpet "Essex-style" sets use the same 22-ounce cut pile carpet as Mercedes and other high-end cars. They include original style machine-bonded plastic heel pads in the factory location with the correct molded plastic dimmer switch grommet and are shipped complete with a 1/2"-thick jute backing bonded to the carpet. Heat-pressed and molded to an original GM floor pan die.
