Convert your 1970-72 Chevelle Super Sport, Monte Carlo & El Camino; 1971 GMC Sprint SP to comprehensive digital instrumentation with Dakota Digital’s Series III VFD system. Dakota Digital's Series III VFD system uses high-brightness vacuum-fluorescent displays for six primary readings: a 0-255 MPH speedometer, 0-17,500 RPM tachometer, 0-99 psi oil pressure, 0-300°F water temperature, 0-99% fuel level and 8-17 VDC voltmeter. The digital information system also provides a one-time-settable million-mile odometer, dual trip meters, 0-60 mph and quarter-mile timers, quarter-mile trap speed, high-speed recall and high-RPM recall. Built-in indicators support left/right turn signals, high beam, check engine, parking brake and available cruise/gear-position functions; gear-position display requires an optional Dakota Digital sender. The sender package includes a 1/8-inch NPT water-temperature sensor, 1/8-inch NPT solid-state oil-pressure sensor, cable-driven speed pulse generator, 10-foot harnesses and common NPT/metric adapter bushings. Pushbutton programming is used for speedometer calibration, cylinder count and fuel-level setup, and current black-plastic control boxes support BIM expansion modules for additional vehicle data. This system is for the round-gauge/Super Sport-style dash. OPGI’s current description also identifies the supplied round gauge housing and the year-specific switch-panel treatment; Dakota Digital’s current fitment adds the 1971 GMC Sprint SP. Display illumination is available in Dakota Digital’s Blue or Teal VFD color configurations.
