1968 Chevelle, Malibu & El Camino VHX Instrument Cluster by Dakota Digital®
No-cut VHX retrofit uses the factory-style bezel and adds six analog gauges plus LCD data.
Upgrade your 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle, Malibu & El Camino with a Dakota Digital VHX instrument system built for the original dash architecture. The analog ranges include 0-160 MPH speedometer, 0-8,000 RPM tachometer, 0-80 psi oil pressure, 100-260°F water temperature, E-to-F fuel level and 9-17 VDC voltage. The VHX system combines traditional analog presentation with modern electronic control. Six analog gauges monitor speed, engine RPM, oil pressure, water temperature, fuel level and voltage, while LCD message centers add digital gauge readouts plus odometer, dual trip-meter, clock and performance information including 0-60 mph, quarter-mile time, trap-speed, high-speed and high-RPM recall. Micro-controlled stepper motors drive the gauges, with fully illuminated needles, LED-backlit faces and solid-state senders. The included sender package supplies water-temperature, oil-pressure and cable-driven speed sensing, with threaded adapter bushings, control box, switch assembly and display-to-control-box cabling. Programmable calibration accommodates tire-size/rear-gear changes, cylinder count and fuel-sender setup. Built-in indicators support turn signals, high beam, check engine, parking brake and other available vehicle functions. Current VHX control boxes also support Dakota Digital BIM expansion modules for additional data channels. Dakota Digital states that the VHX-68C-CVL attaches directly to an OEM or aftermarket dash bezel without modifying the dash. The factory bezel/trim/fascia is reused and is not included. Available configurations include Black, Silver Alloy or Carbon Fiber faces with blue, red or white illumination.
