Scraping oil from the crankshaft counter weights and throws while its rotating increases both torque and horsepower. When installing these scrapers, you have to fit them to your engine rotating combination (because of the difference in stroke length between a 350 and 400, you'll have to grind more of the scraper to fit the 400 than the 350). Same thing with a big-block. The scraper sandwiches between the oil pan and the block pan rail. If you're looking for the most power, a crank scraper is worth the time.
