Chevrolet Big Block 345cc Magnum Heads by Air Flow Research®

Partially CNC-ported A356 Magnum heads pair 345/132cc runners with a Competition 5-angle valve job.

Air Flow Research® 345cc Big Block Chevrolet Magnum heads use A356 aluminum castings with partially CNC-machined intake and exhaust runners, a CNC bowl-blended chamber and Competition 5-angle valve job. Designed for radical street/strip, Pro Street and race combinations up to 572 ci and about 7000 RPM, they are rated at up to 401 CFM at .700-inch lift. This assembled version uses 345cc intake and 132cc exhaust ports with a 117cc chamber. Sold as a pair.

Notes

  • AFR BBC heads are designed for 3/8" pushrods, larger pushrods will not fit without clearancing and is not recommended since some areas are very thin. AFR recommends the use of .120" thick-wall pushrods.
  • For ideal geometry and wipe pattern on BBC heads, AFR strongly recommends AFR stud mount rockers for applications below 7400 RPM and .790 lift. For applications above these limits shaft mount rockers are typically advised.
  • AFR recommends a minimum depth of .080" on the intake valve and .100" on the exhaust with a radical clearance of .020" minimum around the perimeter of each valve. The position of the valve pocket must also be addressed.
  • Flat or angle mills could affect flow numbers and might require a thicker intake gasket.
