1973-77 Chevrolet / 1968-73 Pontiac Overdrive Shifter Conversion by Shiftworks®
A hardened detent and indicator adapter convert the factory console shifter while retaining its cable.
This Shiftworks® set adapts the original console shifter in 1973-77 Chevrolet Chevelle/El Camino and 1968-73 Pontiac GTO/LeMans and 1968-70 Tempest to a compatible 700R4, 200-4R, 4L60E or 4L70E overdrive transmission. The kit supplies a laser-cut, hardened replacement detent, indicator adapter, transmission cable bracket, selector lever and hardware; it reuses the original cable. The conversion does not preserve the factory Rally overshift-stop action, and there is no positive stop at Overdrive. Column-interlock linkage is not retained, so the neutral-safety/back-up-light arrangement requires attention during installation.
