1970–72 GTO & LeMans Gen 5 A/C Kit, Non-A/C by Vintage Air®
Electronic climate control with variable blower speed and blended dash, floor and defrost airflow.
The Gen 5 SureFit® system uses separate high-density aluminum cooling and heater coils with electronic blend-air control for quick temperature changes. Microprocessor operation eliminates vacuum connections to the unit and provides variable blower speed, dash/floor/defrost blending, diagnostics and protective fail-safes. A replacement control panel mounts in the factory dash opening. Rubber well-nut mounts isolate vibration, while the injection-molded case and sealed blend doors control airflow. A block-type expansion valve meters refrigerant, and removable covers allow coil service. Powder-coated steel brackets secure the quiet blower and evaporator assembly. The kit includes the evaporator, mounting brackets, duct hose, wiring, required louvers, control panel, hardware and instructions, plus a flat steel firewall cover. The complete package also supplies the compressor and engine brackets, condenser with mounting brackets, receiver/drier, binary safety switch, refrigerant lines and fittings. Tempest applications are limited to 1970. This configuration is for cars originally built without factory A/C. Supply the required pulleys, V-belts, heater hose and R134a refrigerant separately.
