1964-75 Chevelle & El Camino Small-Block 1-3/4" Full-Length Headers by Doug’s Headers®

Heavy 16-gauge tubes and 3/8-inch machined flanges provide a sturdy mounting surface.

Doug’s Headers® full-length headers use 1-3/4-inch mandrel-bent steel primary tubes, 3-inch three-bolt collectors and 3/8-inch machined mounting flanges. The same-as-port (SAP) flange pattern follows the exhaust-port opening. The 16-gauge tubing is offered with a polished silver ceramic thermal-barrier coating or a high-temperature black finish. Gaskets, mounting bolts and collector reducers are included with the pair. Applications are 1964-75 Chevrolet Chevelle (including Malibu) & El Camino with 265-400-cu.-in. Chevrolet small-block engines. Most angle-plug heads and D-port heads, including ZZ4, are supported. GM Fast Burn cylinder heads, including those used on SP350, SP383 and ZZ6 engines, are not compatible. A 168-tooth flywheel requires a compatible mini starter. These headers do not fit 1964-67 vehicles with air conditioning. For 1968-75 vehicles with a right-side A/C compressor bracket mounted to the exhaust manifold, a separate header-compatible bracket is required. Manifold-mounted alternators or generators likewise need the appropriate replacement mounting brackets. Automatic or manual transmission applications are supported subject to clearance requirements. The locking steering-column linkage may require removal or modification, and manual-transmission clutch linkage requires modification. The 1972-75 frame braces may need removal and bending for clearance. Use other exhaust manifolds or headers for initial engine break-in to protect the ceramic coating.
