Let's face it, heat is a major enemy to any shock absorber. Conventional shocks, by nature of their design, trap heat in the confines of the shock body and won't let the heat properly dissipate. This makes them prone to heat build-up, then fade, and eventually failure. Bilstein's patented monotube gas charged design enables excessive heat from the oil to transfer to the outer surface of the shock body, dissipating it more efficiently.
