This premium RESTOPARTS® fuel tank is reproduced specifically for 1964 Pontiac GTO, Tempest and LeMans models, providing the correct 20-gallon capacity, original-style dimensions, contours and mounting configuration for proper installation in the factory location. Professionally stamped from steel, the tank features a double-sided galvanized zinc coating for corrosion resistance on both the interior and exterior surfaces. Tank seams and attached components are copper brazed for strength and durability, with an additional protective coating applied at the brazed areas. G242178 reproduces the correct non-vented 1964 fuel-tank configuration and incorporates the filler neck directly into the tank assembly, maintaining the original Pontiac fuel-filler arrangement. This application-specific construction distinguishes it from the different vent and capacity configurations used on later GTO, Tempest and LeMans models. The fuel-sending-unit lock ring and gasket are included, providing the proper retention and sealing components for installation of the corresponding sending unit.
