1971-74 GM® Vented Fuel Cap, Deep Style

Deep locking tabs and an external crossbar provide the original cap engagement and hand grip.

This vented, deep-style fuel cap is a reproduction replacement for the corresponding original cap. Internal locking tabs engage the filler neck, and the external crossbar provides a grip for installation and removal. Deep versus shallow identifies the locking-tab height, not the overall cap height. Check the tank neck and original cap against the measurements in the footnote before ordering; the shallow style is not interchangeable solely because the cap looks similar.

Notes

  • “Deep” and “Shallow” is a reference to the height of the fuel cap lock ring tabs. Deep style is approximately 3/8” and shallow style is approximately 1/4”. On the Tank: Measure from the top of fuel neck down to the lock tab grooves. On the Cap: Measure from the inner gasket down to the lock tabs.
