The carburetor-mounted electric solenoid helps maintain the engine idle speed.

This idle stop solenoid is a reproduction of the original electric component used on 1972-77 Chevrolet Chevelle, El Camino and Monte Carlo carburetors with this solenoid arrangement. It bolts to the carburetor and controls the throttle stop position to help maintain the engine idle speed. The original-style mounting makes it a replacement for the matching factory solenoid rather than a universal idle-control conversion.
