Original steel hoods are heavy. If you need to replace your stock hood because of rust or an accident, or you want to remove weight from the front end to gain performance, these quality fiberglass hoods are the way to go. They have the inserts and substructure just like your original, but if you select a cowl induction hood, you gain more clearance for a performance or race intake and carburetor package. You can get the stock look with the flat hood, or you can get the look of performance with the cowl induction hood. Either way, you always get quality.
Regarding Minor Imperfections In Fiberglass Panels:
Due to the fragile nature of fiberglass products, we inspect each piece for major damage prior to shipping. It is common for fiberglass components to have small chips and minor imperfections in the gel coat finish. These imperfections are not considered damage as they will be eliminated during the paint preparation process. Fiberglass parts are not shipped in a finished “ready to install” state and will require minimal filling and sanding prior to primer and paint.
Test Fit All Panels Prior To Paint and Installation:
OPGI recommends test-fitting all sheet metal panels prior to final paint and installation. It is also recommended that the damaged area of the vehicle not be cut out before receiving the new sheet metal. Measure twice, cut once to be safe. Sheet metal panels are not a finished product like door handles and mirrors. Minor modifications including elongating mounting holes, adding shims etc. are normal and may be necessary when installing sheet metal. This is a consideration when reinstalling original GM panels as well as reproductions. It is important to note that hard driving conditions can twist frames and bodies out of original tolerances. Poor bodywork from previous collisions can cause problems with the body structures that the panels are attached to.
