We encourage you to attend this worthy cause for this frequent OPGI visitor.

Mike’s Story

As told by his Father Gary:

“My son and I both had a passion for classic cars, especially muscle cars. He would buy these cars, put his magic touch into them and then take them to car shows. He really got a lot of joy from the people who would give him compliments on his work and how nice the cars looked.

As a teenager, I had several muscle cars and when Mike was in high school his first car was a yellow 1970 Chevelle. About twelve years ago, we decided to give that Chevelle a complete face lift and turned it into a beautiful show car. Something he was so proud of.

Over the years, he had many different makes and models of cars that he learned to beautifully detail. He would drive them awhile, take them to car shows and then sell them. Sometimes he ended up with no profit but he did it for the passion of classic cars and taking them to car shows. But his favorite was his first car, the 1970 Chevelle that he owned since 1994.

On October 14th, 2017 Michael went to work, came home and took his wife to dinner. Upon returning home, he went into the garage and started to detail his 1962 Buick Skylark. He was prepping the car for a car show the next morning. At some point he collapsed to the ground and passed away at the young age of thirty-nine. Paramedics responded but could not revive him. He left this earth after spending time with his family and while working on his car.

He touched the lives of many people which was evident with over five hundred people at his funeral service and celebration of life. He is survived by his wife, his twelve year old daughter and nine year old son. He was a great man, a wonderful husband and father and he was my best friend.” –Gary Christianson
